Lytle Creek Shooting Claims One Life: Suspect Arrested

LOCATION: 1900 block of Lytle Creek Road, Lytle Creek

SUSPECT(S): Christian Monfort, 21-year-old Resident of Jurupa Valley

VICTIM(S): Tyler Monfort, 20-year-old Resident of Jurupa Valley

SUMMARY: On Saturday, December 30, 2023, at approximately 4:30 pm., officers from the Fontana Police Department and deputies from the Fontana Station responded to Dignity Heath Urgent Care, on Sierra Lakes Parkway in Fontana, for a reported assault with a weapon. Upon arriving, Tyler Monfort was found seated inside a parked vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Tyler was pronounced deceased at the location.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, responded to conduct the investigation. Detectives learned Tyler Monfort, his brother Christian Monfort, and a friend drove to an off-road trail in Lytle Creek, where they sat in the vehicle. Christian had a gun in his possession. He fired the gun, striking Tyler. The friend drove to the urgent care in Fontana to get medical aid for Tyler. Upon arriving, Christian fled from the vehicle on foot. Christian was located at a nearby business, with the gun in his possession, after he threatened an employee of another nearby business with the firearm.

Christian Monfort was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for murder.
