An Anaheim man has been convicted of murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman in 2018.

In late December, the Anaheim Police Department announced in a press release that Michael Hallgren had been convicted of murder for the fatal stabbing of 70-year-old Lucinda Palma.

Police had responded on the night of November 20, 2018, to a reported stabbing that had just occurred on the 1200 block of North Siesta Street. Officers reportedly found Hallgren outside, covered in blood. Inside the residence, they found Palma deceased.

Hallgren was arrested on suspicion of murder shortly thereafter. It was later found that he had fatally stabbed Palma with a butcher knife, and Hallgren himself confessed to the crime during an interview, police said.

Hallgren remained in custody until his trial, which began on November 29, 2023. On December 20, Hallgren was found guilty of second-degree murder.

It is unclear whether a sentencing date for Hallgren has been set.
