A Fresno man has been arrested as the primary suspect in the fatal stabbing of his mother’s longtime partner.
According to a press release by the Fresno Police Department, officers responded to a report of a stabbing victim on the 4500 block of East White Avenue on the night of Friday, January 12. In a residence at the scene, officers found a man suffering from a stab wound to his upper body.
Emergency and fire personnel transported the victim an area medical center for emergency treatment, but the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased about half an hour later.
The victim was identified as 69-year-old Gary Bishop.
Investigators learned that Bishop had been living at the home with his longtime partner and her adult son, identified as 32-year-old Aaron Brown.
According to police, Brown had become upset over a property disagreement between his mother and Bishop, and allegedly stabbed Bishop in an unprovoked attack. He then fled the scene. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Bishop.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 14, police located Brown near the downtown area and arrested him on suspicion of murder. He was later booked at the Fresno County jail.
