“On January 12th 2024, at around 1128 PM Officers responded to 3500 block of Page Street after it was reported that two males had just broken into the victim’s vehicle before fleeing in a silver Toyota Prius. RCPD Street Crime Suppression Team detectives were in the area and located a silver Toyota Prius in the area of Spring St and 10th Ave, leaving the direction of the victim’s residence. They conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted three adult males, Steven Dominguez Sanchez (19) of Redwood City and Oakland residents Luis Cisneros (19) and Kevin LeivaHernandez (22).
The officers and detectives determined that the three subjects were attempting to steal the car. They were utilizing an electronic device that is used by car thieves to reprogram car keys so they can steal the vehicle. The three were booked into the San Mateo County Jail for attempted auto theft, conspiracy, and possession of burglary tools.
We would like to remind folks to do what they can to keep their vehicles from being stolen. Always keep cars locked and your keys secured. If you have a garage, park your car in it. Use a physical steering wheel lock which will not allow criminals to turn the steering wheel, even if they can start the car.
