SAN RAFAEL — Detectives with the Marin County Sheriff’s Office specialized investigation unit arrested a suspected drug dealer from San Francisco. A major drug trafficking investigation was prompted by illicit drugs found last month inside a vehicle in Mill Valley.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested individuals associated with the vehicle for drug possession and possession of drugs for sale. Those arrested included Christopher Rinehart, 39, of San Francisco.
Rinehart was arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of a controlled substance for sale, and conspiracy to commit crime. However, investigators determined they had a bigger fish to fry.
Marin detectives launched a follow-up investigation and searched Rinehart’s residence in January. Inside his San Francisco apartment they found a half a pound of suspected methamphetamine and other illicit drugs.
The recovered evidence they found includes –
- Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB) commonly used as a date rape drug
- Cocaine
- Crack cocaine base
- Fentanyl
- Methamphetamine
- Psilocybin mushrooms
- Ketamine
In a prepared statement the sheriff’s office said. “Based on the evidence located at Rinehart’s residence, narcotic sales related charges were forwarded to the Marin County District Attorney.”
Marin detectives also uncovered evidence of other criminal activity. Hundreds of credit cards, account information, checks and identification cards were recovered from Rinehart’s apartment. Detectives also found an embossing machine for manufacturing credit cards and equipment for making fake ID cards. All this evidence of fraud and identity theft was turned over to San Francisco investigators.
