Retail Theft Leaves Long Time Criminal Behind Bars

“On Tuesday afternoon, a man entered the Marshall’s store in El Cajon and loaded a suitcase full of merchandise. He exited the store without paying for the goods. The El Cajon Police responded and located the suspect a short distance away. He still had the suitcase and merchandise with him. Police arrested the man for grand theft. During a follow-up investigation, the police officers discovered the man had an active warrant for robbery. Police identified the man as 51-year-old Edwin Cruz Diaz. Diaz has an extensive police record, including a multitude of theft, narcotics, and weapons charges.
The El Cajon Police Department takes retail theft very seriously. It will use every extent of the law to arrest offenders who commit retail theft and, whenever possible, put them in jail.”
