Shoplifter Arrested After Assaulting Store Employee

“On 1/23/2024 at about 6:00 PM, an adult female entered the Walmart, located at 605 Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon. The woman filled a shopping cart with merchandise, and then fled the store without paying for the goods. Witnesses saw the woman get into a white Nissan Sentra, driven by another female. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the suspects or vehicle.
About thirty minutes later, two females entered the Aldi grocery store, located at 123 Fletcher Parkway. One woman filled a shopping cart with merchandise and left the store without paying; the female punched an employee who tried to stop the theft, causing minor injury. The female’s companion exited the store first and staged a white Nissan Sentra near a freeway onramp. Officers quickly arrived and detained the women, and found their vehicle loaded with stolen merchandise. The women were identified as being involved in both incidents.
The suspects were identified as ALEX SMITH (DOB 9/3/95) and ELAINE BOUIS-MEDRANO (DOB 8/15/94). Both women were booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility on felony charges.
