In a collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies, a pursuit stemming from an ongoing theft investigation in Contra Costa County unfolded on January 25th, 2024, as detailed by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office (CCCSO) and the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO).
CCCSO relayed information to TCSO regarding two vehicles entering Tehama County as part of the ongoing investigation. Upon receiving the request, TCSO initiated a traffic stop on the vehicles, which prompted both to evade authorities. The pursuit, involving a white Porsche, ensued along I-5 and eventually traversed into the rural western region of Corning, reaching dangerous speeds.
Multiple agencies, including Cal-Fire law enforcement, California Highway Patrol (CHP), and CHP air operations, collaborated in the pursuit. The pursuit concluded on Gyle Road, where law enforcement successfully apprehended Gilberto Ramirez Cruz, born on August 26th, 1997, along with a 17-year-old female companion.
Following leads, investigators located a residence in Rancho Tehama suspected of Cruz’s association. A subsequent search of the premises revealed the second vehicle involved in the pursuit, a green Jaguar SUV, concealed behind the residence. A search warrant was obtained and executed, leading to the discovery of several items believed to be stolen.
Cruz, already wanted on multiple warrants including one issued by the US Marshal’s service, was taken into custody and booked into the Tehama County jail. The juvenile companion was placed in the Tehama County Juvenile Detention Center. The Tehama Major Crimes Task Force extended support to CCCSO in processing the residence.
