The Fresno Police Department has announced the arrest of the primary suspect in a fatal shooting committed earlier this month.
According to a press release, investigators have arrested Alfred Samuels, 44, in connection with the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Taeshawn Johnson.
Police had responded to a ShotSpotter activation call in the area of Lee Street and Lorena Avenue on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 17. Officers found Johnson at the scene, having suffered a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at an area hospital shortly afterwards, police said.
Investigators ultimately identified Samuels as the primary suspect, and arrested him during the service of a search warrant last week. Police reportedly also found evidence linking Samuels to the crime during the search.
Samuels was arrested on suspicion of murder.
