Man Arrested for Alleged Felony Vandalism in Yreka

A man from Washington was recently arrested on suspicion of vandalism after allegedly damaging several businesses in Yreka.

According to a press release by the Yreka Police Department, officers responded on Thursday, February 1, to two local businesses which had had their front windows smashed out.

While searching the area, dispatch received a report of a man who had just thrown a large rock through a display window of a business. Officers located the man, identified as an unhoused man from Washington, and took him into custody on suspicion of vandalism.

Officers canvassed the area and now suspect the man to be responsible for vandalizing at least ten local businesses, causing around $25,000 in damage, according to police.

Police encourage any business with cameras on South Main Street, between Oberlin Road and Rose Lane, to review their footage and come forward with any video evidence they may have of the incidents.
