A Sonora man was recently arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and other charges.
On the night of January 17, the Sonora Police Department received several emergency calls that a male subject had just forced a woman into a vehicle as she yelled for help. Patrol officers in the area responded, with assistance from other local agencies. Officers conducted a search of the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Police investigated the incident as a possible kidnapping, and soon identified the suspect as Paul Allen Graham, 40, of Sonora.
On January 19, officers located the vehicle that Graham had allegedly been driving on his property on the 2800 block of Skyview Drive, just outside city limits. Investigators served a search warrant at the property, and called upon the department’s SWAT team for assistance as they did so.
Before the SWAT team arrived on scene, Graham reportedly exited his home, along with the victim, and surrendered into police custody.
Graham was booked on suspicion of kidnapping, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, violation of a court order, exhibiting a deadly weapon, and criminal threats. He is currently being held that the Dambacher Detention Facility without bail, police said.
