“On January 29, 2024, just before 5:00 pm, Citrus Heights Police Department (CHPD) officers responded to the 8000 block of Greenback Lane regarding the reported theft of two firearms from the open business by three adult males.
Shortly before this theft, Rocklin PD reported having the same crime in their city by similarly described individuals. CHPD officers arrived and confirmed that three adult males entered the open business, selected two firearms to steal, and then fled in a nearby vehicle. As a firearms retailer, the business had excellent video surveillance equipment that was extremely valuable in helping officers identify these suspects. Officers immediately began searching the area for the vehicle and shared the
information with neighboring agencies.
The suspects were located by Sacramento County Sheriff deputies at an apartment complex located on Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The suspects were observed outside the vehicle they fled in and a short foot pursuit ensued by deputies. One of the three suspects was detained and was later positively identified as being involved in the burglary.
CHPD Investigators have released the name of the suspect who was arrested as 33-year-old Joshua Butler, who is currently on Sacramento County Probation for domestic violence and is now being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on burglary, grand theft, conspiracy, felon in possession of a firearm and probation violation.
The names of the other two suspects currently being sought for questioning are 27-year-old Taron Carter who is currently on Sacramento County Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) Probation for felony evading of police, and 28-year-old Rollkey McDaniel who is currently on Sacramento County PRCS Probation for felon in possession of a firearm.”
