Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting at Hollister Car Wash
Hollister Police have arrested an individual on suspicion of murder after an altercation allegedly resulted in a fatal shooting.
According to a press release by the Hollister Police Department, ofifcers responded to a call regarding a physical altercation accompanied by gunfire at Hillcrest Car Wash on Hillcrest Road. on February 9. Upon arrival, officers reportedly discovered an individual, described as a 48-year-old Hispanic male, with gunshot injuries.
Despite efforts by emergency personnel, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect was identified as Jose Angel Valdez, 39, whom authorities say is an acquaintance of the victim. Valdez was arrested without incident.
The suspect’s vehicle, reported by witnesses, was found parked at a residence on Mary Drive. Police surrounded the property and initiated communication with the suspect, who was not at the location at that time.
With the assistance of family members, Valdez was located and detained while driving on Flynn Road. He has since been booked into the San Benito County jail on suspicion of murder.
Authorities have stated that there are currently no additional suspects are under investigation. The identity of the deceased is withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
