Colusa County Authorities Investigate Murder-Suicide in Stonyford
“On February 1, 2024, Colusa County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Ponderosa Ln. (Stonyford) regarding a welfare check on two individuals later identified as James Nance, 64, of Stonyford and Georgiann Espinoza, 49, of Stonyford. At 6:41 pm, law enforcement personnel arrived on scene and contacted the reporting party. The reporting party assisted Deputies in making access into the residence.
Deputies located Nance and Espinoza deceased inside the residence from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Detectives from the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office as well as the California Department of Justice Crime Scene Response Unit responded to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. This is an ongoing investigation; however, the incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide. There are no threats to public safety.
