An 18-year-old was recently arrested for allegedly manufacturing and selling ghost guns out of his San Jose home.
According to a press release by the San Jose Police Department, the department received a tip on January 12 regarding the alleged sales of privately made firearms, commonly referred to as ghost guns. The department’s Gun and Hazardous Offender Suppression Team began an investigation.
Investigators soon identified the primary suspect in the investigation as Francisco Sanchez Jr., 18, and allege that he had been using a 3D printer to manufacture and sell ghost guns out of his home.
Authorities obtained a warrant for Sanchez’s arrest, as well as a separate warrant to search his home. On February 15, authorities served the warrants and carried out the search.
During the search, investigators reportedly seized “two firearms, firearm manufacturing precursor materials, and the 3D printing machine used to create the ghost guns.”
Sanchez was arrested and booked at the Santa Clara County main jail for the alleged illegal manufacturing of firearms and sale of unserialized firearms.
