Humboldt County authorities recently arrested a man for allegedly assaulting another man with a taser outside a bar in Redway.

Shortly before 2:30 AM on February 24, a deputy responded to Brass Rail Bar and Grill on Redwood Drive to investigate a report that someone had been shot in the hand with a taser, the county Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

At the scene, several witnesses reported to the deputy that a man — later identified as Nicholas Sarkozy, 38 — had verbally confronted another man outside the bar, then shot the man in the hand with a taser. The deputy located and arrested Sarkozy on suspicion of assault with a stun gun and public intoxication.

The victim was reportedly treated for puncture wounds to his hand from the taser prongs and released from the scene.

Sarkozy was booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
