On 2/24/24 around 4AM, Deputies were sent to a the area of Proberta road and San Benito Avenue in Gerber for a reported home invasion.

Upon arrival, Deputies discovered that two separate home invasions occurred to two adjacent homes.

At the time of the home invasion, a family of 7, including several children were asleep in one of the residences. Several adults were beaten, bound, and held at gunpoint by at least three adult males who demanded their money.

The suspects later moved to the adjacent home, which had a single resident asleep inside. They made entry into the home after breaking a window to the residence and confronting the tenant at gunpoint. He was also held at gunpoint and robbed of property in the home.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the home in which the family was present was mistakenly targeted by the suspects and their intended victim was the resident at the adjacent home.

Investigators from the Tehama Major Crimes Task Force have taken over the investigation and are attempting to determine a motive and identify suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Epperson at 530-736-5500 or by email at Repperson@tehamaso.org”
