Multiple Arrests in Porterville Following Traffic Stop Uncover Wide Range of Criminal Activities
In Porterville, on the evening of February 27, 2024, a routine traffic stop led to the arrest of multiple individuals on a variety of charges, according to the Porterville Police Department. The incident began at 11:11 P.M. when an officer stopped a vehicle in the 1300 Block of West Morton Avenue. The driver, identified as 47-year-old William Clifton, and passenger, 37-year-old Ryan Thorn, both residents of Porterville, were initially detained. Thorn was found in possession of a firearm, prompting further investigation.
As the inquiry progressed, both Clifton and Thorn exhibited signs consistent with controlled substance influence and were subsequently taken into custody. Searches of the vehicle uncovered drug paraphernalia, a controlled substance intended for distribution, and a loaded firearm in Thorn’s possession. Additionally, the vehicle contained stolen property linked to a recent residential burglary and was equipped with falsified registration plates.
Both Clifton and Thorn were charged with multiple offenses, including firearm possession under the influence, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, controlled substance possession with intent to distribute, drug paraphernalia possession, driving under the influence, and possession of stolen property. They were booked into the South County Detention Facility, each held on $85,000 bail.
Following this, a search warrant executed at Thorn’s residence on North Maston Street resulted in the discovery of narcotics, paraphernalia, and stolen property. The operation led to the arrest of Anne Taff, Rhonda Kruger, Kevin Kruger, Kelsey Kruger, Rosenda Ramirez, Pete Tapia, Daniel Miranda, and Irma Fuentes on various charges ranging from maintaining a narcotics residence, controlled substance possession, to outstanding warrants. These individuals were also booked at the South County Detention Facility, with bail set for Taff at $25,000.
The Porterville Police Department continues its investigation into these activities, underscoring the ongoing efforts to address controlled substance abuse and related criminal behavior within the community.
