Summary:
On February 26, 2024, at approximately 10:23 P.M. an Officer with the Porterville Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Newcomb Street and Putnam Avenue.
The Officer contacted Porterville resident, Johnathan Hampton. Hampton displayed signs and symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was ultimately taken into custody. During a search of the vehicle, a concealed and loaded firearm was located within the area of his immediate control. A records check revealed Hampton to be a previously convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.
Hampton was taken into custody and booked at the South County Detention Facility for being in possession of a firearm while under the influence of a controlled substance, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and transportation, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a loaded firearm. Hampton is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.”
