LAFAYETTE – Police chased a Chevy Blazer and arrested the driver for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery of a gas station. Sean J. Shavers, 28, of Oakland, remains in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $170,000 bond.
Lafayette PD apprehended Shavers on March 5 at 11:51 a.m., with help from Concord police. The SUV was first seen in Lafayette traveling eastbound on Highway 24 near Pleasant Hill Road. It was pursued into Concord, until the driver abandoned it on Ranchito Drive. Next, the suspect fled in another vehicle, but he was caught nearby on Bisso Lane in Concord.
Shavers was booked for felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and a high-capacity magazine. Further review of the incident and charges are pending, and at least three other suspects are still being sought.
The armed robbery occurred February 22 at 9:54 p.m. at a Chevron gas station at 145 Hartz Avenue, Danville. Four suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts and ski masks robbed merchandise from the convenience store inside the gas station.
All four suspects fled before responding Danville officers arrived at the scene. Danville detectives subsequently identified the black Chevy Blazer as the getaway vehicle. Nearby agencies were notified to be on the lookout for this SUV.
