Santa Maria Felon Arrested with Loaded Firearm and Drugs in Stolen Vehicle

“On March 4th around 11:15 AM, GBPD Officers were advised of a stolen vehicle in the area of W. Grand Avenue and S. 3rd Street. Officers responded to the area and began to canvass the area for the vehicle. While completing the area check, the vehicle was located backed into a parking spot in the parking lot located in the 100 block of N. 7th Street. Officers confirmed that the vehicle was still occupied and conducted a felony “stop” on the vehicle.

The adult male in the drivers seat was noncompliant with officers’ directions and started the vehicles engine. Due to safety concerns, the Officers broke the driver side window, opened the door, and took the suspect into custody. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded firearm in the driver side door panel easily accessible to the driver. Additionally, a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, and mushrooms were located in the driver compartment of the vehicle.

The suspect, 36-year old Jeremy Cassaro, of Santa Maria, is a known felon and on Post Release Community Supervision. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County jail on the following charges: Possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful possession of ammunition, possessing a drug while armed, carrying a loaded firearm, possess/purchase for sale – controlled substance, sale of controlled substances, sale of narcotic, driving car without consent, and obstruct/resists a public officer.”
