Non-Injury Shooting leads to the Arrest of 2 Juveniles

On the night of February 16th, 2024, at approximately 11:02 PM, Napa Police Officers responded to reports of a shooting incident near the 1600 block of Myrtle Avenue. Multiple callers notified Napa Dispatch of individuals purportedly chasing an individual walking their dog, followed by the sound of two gunshots.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered two spent shell casings and one live round of ammunition on the ground. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting, however the suspects had fled the area prior to the arrival of law enforcement personnel.
Subsequent investigations carried out by the Napa Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit, in conjunction with Napa County Probation and School Resource Officers from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office and Napa Police, revealed evidence implicating the suspects as known members of the Norteno Criminal Street gang.
On February 22nd, 2024, NPD Detectives executed two search warrants related to the shooting investigation. As a result, two juvenile suspects, aged 17 and 16, were apprehended and subsequently booked at the Napa County Juvenile Detention center. Felony charges recommended to the Napa County District Attorney’s office for review include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal street gang enhancement, and conspiracy under relevant penal codes (664/187 PC, 245PC, 186.22 PC, and 182 PC, respectively).
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives endeavor to identify and locate any additional individuals with pertinent knowledge regarding the incident. At present, no further information is available concerning the case.
