Sacramento County Sheriff’s East Division Patrol Deputies swiftly responded to a report of a stabbing incident at a bar located on the 12000 block of Folsom Boulevard around 11:15 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies encountered an adult male victim who had sustained multiple stab wounds. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment of his life-threatening injuries, although he is expected to recover.
Moments after their arrival, deputies were directed by patrons to the suspect, who was still in possession of a knife. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Delance Jefferson, was apprehended without further incident and taken into custody by law enforcement personnel. At the time of the incident, Jefferson was on felony probation for multiple felonies.
According to witnesses present at the scene, Jefferson had been denied service at the bar earlier due to his inability to pay for an alcoholic beverage. Subsequently, Jefferson reportedly began to follow a female employee within the establishment until she sought refuge in an area reserved for employees only. The victim, another employee, intervened when Jefferson proceeded to stab him multiple times.
Following the altercation, patrons of the bar pursued Jefferson as he fled the premises, subsequently alerting deputies to his whereabouts upon their arrival.
Delance Jefferson was subsequently booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is currently being held on bail set at $500,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 12, 2024.
