Madera PD: Two Arrested on DUI Charges After Pursuit

“Around 1:30 AM, Cpl. Smith and Officer Ovedo attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red Chevrolet Camaro near Lake St. and 5th St. when the driver fled at a high rate of speed. After a brief period, the pursuit was terminated due to the reckless driving by the suspect. A short time later, the vehicle was located near Cleveland Ave. and Nebraska Ave. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was contacted. During the contact it was obvious the driver, was under the influence of alcohol. He was identified as 24 year old, Jefferey Cuevas. The passenger, 23 year old, Ruben Chavez, was also under the influence and had an arrest warrant for DUI. Jefferey was arrested for DUI and evading. Ruben was arrested for his DUI warrant. They both were booked into Madera County Jail.”
