In a concerted effort to combat narcotics trafficking, the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) Narcotics Unit, in collaboration with the California Army National Guard, recently concluded a comprehensive investigation resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the significant seizure of illicit substances.
Over the course of the past three months, SFPD Narcotics investigators diligently pursued leads pertaining to suspected drug trafficking activities within the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. Their meticulous efforts culminated in the identification of three individuals believed to be involved in the distribution of large quantities of narcotics.
On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., SFPD Narcotics Unit members, alongside personnel from the California Army National Guard, surveilled the suspects as they traveled in a vehicle to the 900 block of Laguna Street. Subsequently, officers conducted a traffic stop, apprehended the suspects, and executed a search warrant.
During the search operation, law enforcement officers, aided by a K-9 unit, uncovered and confiscated over 500 grams of suspected fentanyl. Additionally, a substantial sum of US currency was seized as evidence. The suspects, identified as Luis Velasquez, aged 34, Marvin Licona, aged 33, and Patricia Cruz-Ramirez, aged 21, were promptly placed under arrest.
Further investigation led authorities to the suspects’ residence in Oakland, California, where officers from the SFPD Narcotics Unit, Tenderloin Station Plainclothes Unit, and the California Army National Guard executed another search warrant. This subsequent operation resulted in the discovery of additional US currency and further evidence implicating the suspects in narcotics trafficking activities.
Velasquez, Cruz-Ramirez, and Licona were subsequently booked into the San Francisco County Jail on felony charges related to narcotics trafficking and conspiracy. Alongside the arrests, law enforcement officials successfully seized over 500 grams of suspected fentanyl and in excess of $70,000 in US currency.
Despite the arrests, the investigation remains ongoing, underscoring the SFPD’s commitment to thoroughly address narcotics-related offenses.
