Man Arrested As Deputies Investigate Shooting in Fort Bragg
A Mendocino County man was recently arrested while law enforcement was in the process of investigating a shooting in Fort Bragg.
According to a press release by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting in Fort Bragg near Boice Lane and North Highway 1 on the morning of March 16. Witnesses reportedly described a suspect vehicle in the shooting as a white four-door Honda sedan being driven by a Hispanic female adult.
A spent 9mm casing was also found near the scene.
Law enforcement, including units from the Fort Bragg Police Department, initiated a search for the suspect vehicle.
Based on prior knowledge, deputies suspected the involvement of a woman known to be associated with gang-related activities and with a suspected connection to a previous shooting. The suspect was on pretrial release for a previous shooting case.
Deputies proceeded to Dryer Lane, where the suspect was associated with a residence.
Deputies then traveled to a residence known to be associated with the suspect, located on Dryer Lane. Upon arrival, they observed the white Honda sedan leaving the area at high speed.
After a short pursuit, deputies stopped the vehicle and detained the occupants. Though deputies did not find evidence related to the shooting, they did reportedly find a bullet hole in the driver’s side door.
While at the Dryer Lane address, officers stopped a second vehicle seen leaving the location and detained an individual with active warrants, identified as Dylan Dixon, 18. Law enforcement reportedly found Dixon to be in possession of firearms and a large quantity of suspected psilocybin mushrooms.
Dixon was ultimately arrested on firearms-related charges, violation of pretrial release terms, and possession of controlled substances. He was booked at the Mendocino County jail on $150,000 bond.
