Man with Felony Warrant Arrested After Police Pursuit in Fairfield
“On March 9, at 6:53 pm, a Fairfield police officer located a stolen vehicle in the area of Lopes Road and Auto Plaza Court. The man driving the car, 24-year-old Wilhem Rivas, was known to have an outstanding felony arrest warrant out of San Montano and San Francisco Counties for Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) violations.
Fairfield officers waited for California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) helicopter to get overhead prior to initiating a felony stop. With the helicopter overhead, the vehicle led officers on an extended pursuit on eastbound Highway 80 to Dixon, then back to westbound 80. Fairfield officers subsequently terminated the pursuit for traffic safety considerations.
Allied agencies, including the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, Vacaville Police Department and CHP, continued the pursuit, and after two separate successful spike strip deployments by Fairfield officers, the fleeing vehicle came to rest on the shoulder of westbound 80, just past Manuel Campos Parkway.
Rivas fled west into a neighborhood, but was contained by ground units and CHP air support.
Rivas then attempted to flee up a hilltop behind the Fox Glenn neighborhood but was met by Fairfield Police Officer Russel Taylor.
CHP lowered their aircraft, allowing an officer to jump out of the aircraft and assist Officer Taylor with the apprehension.
Wilhem Rivas of San Francisco was arrested for car theft, outstanding warrants, and felony reckless evading.”
