San Francisco, CA – The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) has made significant progress in ongoing investigations following two separate fatal shooting incidents that occurred on Turk Street.
The first incident took place on October 18, 2022, at approximately 12:17 a.m., prompting SFPD officers to respond to a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of the 900 block of Market Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds on Turk Street. Despite efforts by officers and paramedics to save his life, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The SFPD Homicide Detail took charge of the investigation.
The second incident unfolded on June 13, 2023, around 1:37 a.m., when officers responded to another shooting report on Turk Street. Again, they found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, the victim’s injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. The SFPD Homicide Detail commenced an investigation into this incident as well.
Through diligent investigative work, the suspect in both cases was identified as 43-year-old Demetri Moore, hailing from Solano County. Following a crime bulletin issued by SFPD Homicide Investigators, Moore was apprehended on February 29, 2024, around 6:39 p.m. by SFPD Tenderloin officers patrolling the area of O’Farrell and Jones Streets. At the time of his arrest, Moore was found to be in possession of a firearm and was subsequently taken into custody for an outstanding homicide warrant, along with an active warrant from Pittsburg, CA.
Moore now faces a slew of charges including murder, various firearm-related offenses, and violations related to his status as a convicted felon. He has been booked into San Francisco County Jail.
Despite Moore’s arrest, both cases remain open and are considered to be active investigations.
