A Humboldt County man was recently arrested for allegedly breaking into a woman’s home in the early hours of the morning.
According to a press release, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident on the 1700 block of Noble Court in McKinleyville in the early morning hours of March 17. The caller reported that her power was out and that someone was breaking into her home.
Responding deputies called the victim while en route to the scene and the victim reported that she’d awakened to unknown noises, realized her power had been shut off and, while leaving the residence, had seen someone in black clothing walking through her yard and into the garage. She also told deputies that, when she got to her neighbor’s house, she saw the individual leave her house and walk toward Heartwood Drive.
Deputies arrived on scene and located an individual on Heartwood Drive who matched the description provided by the resident. After a brief foot pursuit, deputies arrested the individual, identified as 30-year-old Stephen Gabriel Alvarez.
Deputies positively identified Alvarez as the individual suspected of breaking into the woman’s home.
Alvarez was booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on suspicion of first-degree burglary and obstructing or resisting a peace officer.
The case is still under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said.
