Some criminals are more brazen than others, acting with little or no fear when it comes to the possibility of personally confronting the victims of their crimes.
That may have been the fearless perspective held by 56-year-old Thousand Oaks resident Martin Gayosso when, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sr. Deputy Danny Lopez, he “unlawfullly entered a home in the city of Thousand Oaks” during the daylight hours prior to March 28, 2024.
While he was in the residence, Gayosso allegedly made off with “various items” of undisclosed value. When the victims of the daylight theft realized their home had been broken into and notified authorities, VCSD’s Thousand Oaks Directed Enforcement Unit promptly went to work and identified Gayosso as “the primary suspect.”
As a probationer under “specific search conditions” imposed by Ventura County Superior Court, Gayosso was soon located and contacted by detectives. A search of his vehicle and residence immediately ensued, whereupon detectives “discovered him in possession of stolen property” from the victim’s residence. Gayosso was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of residential burglary. He remains in custody with is bail set at $55,000.
