NPU officers search BHO lab“On March 27, 2024, at approximately 11:30 A.M., Officers from the Neighborhood Police Department (NPU) executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of Hartnell Avenue. During the warrant service, officers discovered a functioning Butane Honey Oil (BHO) laboratory concealed in an auto body shop.

A BHO laboratory produces concentrated cannabis, which has a high value in the illegal market. Butane is highly flammable and poses a significant danger when used during the BHO extraction. Even a tiny spark or heat source can trigger a catastrophic BHO laboratory explosion.

Due to the functioning of the BHO laboratory, the Redding Fire Department, City of Redding Code Enforcement, and Shasta Interagency Narcotics Taskforce (SINTF) responded. With the assistance of SINTF, the BHO laboratory was dismantled and deemed safe.

During the search, NPU officers found evidence of concentrated cannabis being manufactured for sale. Officers seized over 16 pounds of concentrated cannabis. Officers did not locate anyone at the scene; however, they discovered information that Michael Easley, 47 years old of Anderson, was responsible for manufacturing BHO at the location.

On April 3, 2024, officers located and arrested Michael Easley in the city of Redding for several drug-related offenses related to the BHO Laboratory. Officers booked Easley into the Shasta County Jail.”
