Man Booked on Murder Charges in Connection with Fatal Shooting in Tuolumne County

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office has cleared the area of Long Barn Road near Circle Drive in Long Barn following response to a report of a shooting last night, Wednesday April 10th around 10:10pm.

Detectives have arrested 69-year-old James West of Long Barn in relation to the shooting. West was transported to the Dambacher Detention Center (DDC) Thursday morning, where he was booked on charges of 187(A)PC Murder: First Degree and 664/187(A)PC Attempted Murder: First Degree.

The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Joseph Barbalinardo Jr., of Long Barn. Next of kin has been notified.

**Deputies Respond to Shooting in Long Barn, Homicide Investigation Occurring**

Right now, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a homicide in the area of Long Barn Road near Circle Drive in Long Barn. Around 10:10 Wednesday evening, deputies responded with lights and sirens to a report of a man who had been shot at a residence. While deputies were in route to the location, additional gunshots were reported, and a second gunshot victim was reported.

When deputies arrived, they ordered multiple people out of the residence, including the suspect who was taken into custody. Deputies entered the residence and located a man who had been shot. The man was pronounced deceased on scene. A second person with gunshot wounds was transported by medics to an air ambulance.”
