Colma Police: Shoplifting Suspects Arrested After Getaway Vehicle Runs Out of Gas

“On Sunday, 04/14/24 at approximately 6:47 pm, Colma Officers were dispatched to the area of Junipero Serra Boulevard and Serra Center on a report of a reckless driver. We were updated that a black Mercedes-Benz had run two red signal lights and was currently stopped in the middle of the road.
Officers arrived in the area and observed the Mercedes-Benz stopped on S/B Junipero Serra Boulevard. Officers observed a male and female walking away from the vehicle and walking towards a nearby shopping center. Arriving officers contacted the male driver who told officers the male and female were associated with him and the vehicle. The male driver told officers his vehicle had run out of gas and the male and female were walking to get gas.
A records check conducted by our dispatchers revealed the male was on Parole out of Austin Texas and was a wanted fugitive out of Texas. During a search of the vehicle, rifle ammunition was located in the driver side door. Clothing from various stores, with the security sensors still attached, were located in the front and rear passenger seats of the vehicle. The male driver was placed under arrest.
The female and second male were located and detained. They both initially provided officers with fake names. A records check conducted by our dispatchers of the female’s true name revealed she had an out of county, felony warrant for her arrest. A records check conducted by our dispatchers of the male’s true name revealed he had two, out of county, felony warrants for his arrest.
It was later determined the male and female had stolen from two different business’ in the 100 block of Serramonte Boulevard in Daly City, with the male driver acting as the getaway driver. At one business, the male and female stole approximately $1,043.68 worth of merchandise. The business’ manager also advised the male used wire cutters to remove security sensors. At the second business, it was determined the female stole approximately $410.65 worth of merchandise.
Mark Piercy, a 64-year-old Austin Texas resident, was arrested for being a felon in possession of ammunition, felony conspiracy to commit a crime, burglary, and grand theft. He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail and his vehicle was towed.
Demetria Dyer, a 51-year-old Oakland resident, was arrested for burglary, felony conspiracy to commit a crime, grand theft, providing peace officers with a false name and her felony warrant. She was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
Joe Minix, a 54-year-old Oakland resident, was arrested for burglary, felony conspiracy to commit a crime, grand theft, possession of burglary tools, providing peace officers with a false name and his two felony warrants. He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.”
