A 27 year old man from Wichita Kansas was apprehended by NCSO officers on April 15, 2024, following a reported road rage incident along Highway 49 near Crestview Drive in Grass Valley.

The Nevada County Regional Dispatch Center received the initial 911 call about the incident at 12:49 p.m. A concerned caller relayed that the driver of a silver Honda Civic had purportedly cut off a black Tesla, with an allegation that someone in the Honda brandished a firearm at the Tesla.

In response to the report, deputies from the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) and officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP – Grass Valley) promptly mobilized to the scene. A subsequent 911 call, received at 12:53 p.m., echoed the previous report, reinforcing the seriousness of the situation.

By 1:00 p.m., NCSO and CHP officers had located the silver Honda Civic parked in the 10,000 block of Alta Sierra Drive. During the investigation, Myles Francis Monigold was identified as the individual occupying the passenger side of the vehicle, while the driver was found inside a nearby business establishment.

Upon further scrutiny, Monigold emerged as the prime suspect allegedly involved in brandishing a firearm during the road rage incident. Law enforcement officers recovered a loaded black .357 Magnum Colt revolver, pictured, from a gun case within the vehicle. Additionally, a second loaded silver .38 Special Smith & Wesson Airweight revolver was also discovered in the same case. Both firearms were secured as evidence by the Sheriff’s Property Unit.

Monigold was placed under arrest and subsequently booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.
