PLEASANT HILL – Two men are dead and two men in jail resulting from a recent gunfight at Twinbridge Circle near Longbrook Way. Pleasant Hill police arrested the two suspects with help from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Joe Washington 18, and Money J. Green, 20, both from Richmond, were captured in Sacramento on April 18. Washington and Green were placed under arrest on Ramey Warrants. They are at the Martinez Detention Facility ineligible for release on bond.
Investigators believe the two deaths resulted from an attempted robbery that escalated to gun violence. This Pleasant Hill shootout happened on March 19 shortly before noon. Three suspects confronted the victim 63-year-old Peter Popovich, a resident of Pleasant Hill.
Popovich was targeted while making deliveries to cannabis dispensaries. Popovich and one of the suspects Trevon Davis, 21, of San Pablo, exchanged multiple rounds of gunfire. Police confirmed Popovich had a valid permit to carry a concealed firearm. Popovich and Davis were each shot multiple times, and they died at the same hospital.
The two other suspects who fled from Twinbridge Circle were later identified as Washington and Green. The homicide investigation remains active. Anyone with information can contact the Pleasant Hill Police Investigations Bureau at 925-288-4630.
Washington and Green each face charges and special allegations for –
Intentional discharge of a firearm
Attempted second-degree robbery
Criminal street gang terrorism
Driving or taking a vehicle without consent
Green also faces an additional more serious murder charge. Incidentally, Green has three other prior arrests for weapons-related offenses in 2023 and 2022. In March, he was convicted for illegal possession of a machine gun.
