Kings County Man Arrested for Alleged Attempted Murder, Manufacture of Explosive Devices

A Kings County man was recently arrested in connection with an alleged shooting, as well as for the alleged manufacturing of explosive devices.
According to a press release by the county Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received a call just before 4 AM on April 19 reporting that someone had been shot on the 160000 block of 17th Avenue in Kings County. The victim, identified as a 36-year-old man, had beens hot multiple times and was hospitalized at an area medical center.
At press time, the victim was listed in serious but stable condition, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Shortly after the shooting, detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. They soon identified the primary suspect as Maiya Garcia, 25. Detectives then began securing search warrants, which they served in both Kings County and at a specific address in Lemoore.
During the latter search in Lemoore, detectives reportedly found the suspect to be in possession of chemicals used to manufacture explosive materials, as well as completed explosive material which had been used to construct “numerous” homemade devices.
Garcia was arrested and booked at the Kings County jail on suspicion of attempted murder, child endangerment, and additional charges related to the explosive materials.
Authorities set Garcia’s bail at $820,000.
