Arrest Made in Connection with Fatal Shooting in Turlock

On April 16, 2024, at approximately 6:58 p.m., law enforcement officers responded to a shooting incident on the 700 block of Wayside Drive, as reported by dispatch. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds and promptly administered aid. One victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the arm and was transported to a Modesto hospital, where medical personnel determined the injuries to be non-life threatening. The second victim, identified as Amado “Dominic” Escobedo III, 19, of Ceres, was found in the roadway and pronounced deceased at the scene despite resuscitative efforts.

Following the initial response, Turlock Police Detectives assumed control of the investigation. Through diligent inquiry, detectives established that the involved parties were acquainted and that the shooting followed a brief altercation. Subsequently, a 17-year-old male resident of Turlock was identified as the suspect.

On April 22, 2024, detectives attended the Stanislaus County Juvenile Detention Center, where the suspect was already in custody for an unrelated matter. The 17-year-old was rebooked on charges of murder and attempted murder. Simultaneously, a search warrant was executed in the 1200 block of Pioneer Avenue, leading to the seizure of evidence pertinent to the investigation.
