With controlled substances, illegal drugs, and purloined pills persisting as hot commodities in the world of street crime, it’s no wonder that more of the folks dealing in such merchandise don’t follow in the footsteps of 21-year-old Lynwood, Ca. Resident Daniel Godinez.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Dillan Alvarez, The Thousand Oaks Detective Bureau Career Criminals Unit, working in collaboragtion with the VCSD East County Special Enforcement Unit and the Thousand Oaks Directed Enforcement Unit, have been working a case since December 29, 2023 in which “suspects forced entry” at multiply pharmacies throughout the City of Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks. Obviously aware of the attraction of their inventories to a wide range of criminal interests, however, each of those locations were protected by “strong interior security measures in place” and no pharmaceutical products were accessed.
The failure of burglars to succeed in their thievery attempts does not, however, mean that no crimes were committed, and a law enforcement investigation promptly ensued.
Nearly five months later, that effort ultimately led to the identification of Godinez as a principal suspect; he was contacted at his residence in Lynwood on the morning of April 16, 2024 at which time he was informed of his rights and arrested.
He was then transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of commercial burglary, with his bail set at $50,000.
