Woodland Murder Investigation: Two Arrested, One Still Wanted

On April 4th, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., Joseph Dyer voluntarily surrendered himself at the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department in connection to an ongoing murder investigation, the Woodland Police Department announced in a press release.
Law enforcement officers swiftly apprehended Dyer without incident. As the investigation progresses, additional information is being gathered. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the Investigations Bureau at 530-661-7800.
In a related development on April 3rd, 2024, at approximately 4 p.m., Rigoberto Torres, a 31-year-old Woodland resident, was detained, and a search warrant was executed at his residence. During the operation, two rifles were seized, one of which investigators suspect to be the murder weapon pending forensic confirmation. Torres has been arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of an assault rifle, and he has been incarcerated at the Yolo County Jail.
Authorities are seeking the cooperation of the Woodland community in locating the primary suspect, Joseph Dyer, a 31-year-old Woodland resident, described as a white male, 5’10” tall, 187 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes, characterized by long hair on top and shaved sides. Dyer is wanted on suspicion of murder and is considered dangerous. Individuals are advised not to approach or attempt to detain Dyer.
