Yuba County Man Arrested for Alleged Homicide, Felony Evading

“At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received a “shots fired’ call near the area of Remington Way and Silvergate Court in Marysville.  The reporting party heard a loud bang and a neighbor’s voice yelling for help.  Deputies arrived on scene and located a victim with injuries from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to Rideout Hospital in Marysville where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses were able to provide a description of the suspect and his vehicle which was quickly located by deputies searching the area.  A pursuit ensued for approximately ten minutes with speeds up to 95 miles-per-hour.  The suspect then crashed the vehicle and attempted to run away, but was taken into custody.

The suspect, 45-year-old Sunny Bavra, was booked at the Yuba County Jail for homicide, felony evading, and a number of weapon offenses. It is unknown whether or not the suspect knew the victim prior to this incident.
