Male Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder in Connection with Culver City Stabbing Incident

A man was recently arrested for the alleged attempted murder of a woman in Culver City.

According to a press release by the Culver City Police Department, officers responded to the 6100 block of Slauson Avenue on the afternoon of Sunday, May 5, after receiving multiple calls about an altercation between two people. At the scene, officers discovered that an adult woman had been stabbed multiple times.

The victim received medical aid at the scene before being treated at an area hospital and later released.

The suspect was located hiding in the bushes at Cougar Park near the scene of the attack, police said.

Investigators believe that the suspect approached the victim in a parking garage on Slauson Avenue and stabbed her multiple times. The victim was eventually able to get the knife away from the suspect, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The suspect allegedly provided a false identity at first. He was later identified as Jorge Arnoldo Vasquez, 35.

Officers arrested Vasquez and booked him at the Culver City PD jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and providing a false identification to a peace officer. His bail was set at $2 million.
