Gang Member Arrested for Firearms Violations After Proactive Enforcement Operation

“While conducting proactive enforcement, Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) Detectives observed a subject, later identified as a Stand Up Boys gang member named Elijah Lewis, driving erratically and displaying hand signs consistent with gang membership. GSU Detectives conducted a vehicle stop on Lewis; a records check revealed Lewis had no driver’s license issued and was a convicted felon, prohibiting him from possessing any firearms. Lewis also stated that he was on probation.

During a vehicle search, Detectives located a loaded, unregistered Glock pistol, which had been converted into a fully automatic machine gun.
Upon the discovery of the firearm, Detectives attempted to detain Lewis, who ran on foot into an apartment complex.
With the assistance of Central Patrol Deputies, K9, and Central POP, a perimeter was established around the apartment complex. Deputies eventually located Lewis hiding inside a partially constructed building; he was arrested without further incident. Lewis was transported to the Sacramento Main Jail, where he remains ineligible for bail. He is scheduled to appear in court today.”
