Tuolumne County Man Arrested for Alleged Attempted Murder, Assault with Deadly Weapon

“On Monday 5/13/2024, at about 11:13 in the morning, deputies responded to the area of Gunsight Road near Upper Quail Mine Road for a report of a man who had been stabbed.
While deputies were in route, a reporting party told dispatch, 47-year-old Daniel Forgan of Columbia had stabbed the victim in the stomach and had left the scene. Dispatch updated responding units. When deputies arrived, they located the victim with a stab wound to his stomach. Deputies provided medical aid for the victim until medics arrived. The victim was transported by medics to an air ambulance and was flown out of the area for medical treatment.
Deputies spoke to witnesses on scene. One witness reported seeing Forgan approach the victim, yell at him, remove a, “sword,” and stab the victim in the stomach. The witness told deputies after witnessing the stabbing, she yelled at Forgan and yelled for help from neighbors. The witness reported Forgan left the scene prior to deputies’ arrival and neighbors assisted the victim until deputies arrived. Deputies responded to Forgan’s residence where they located an approximately 14-inch-long knife hanging on the fence. Deputies ordered Forgan out of the residence and took him into custody.
TCSO Investigations Division Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Detectives continued processing the scene, conducting interviews, and collecting additional evidence, including a Facebook Live Stream posted by Forgan.
Forgan was transported to the Dambacher Detention Center (DDC) where he was booked on charges of 664/187(A) PC – Attempted murder and 245(A)(1) PC Assault with a deadly weapon.
This case remains under active investigation and no additional information will be released at this time.”
