Once again validating the truth of the adage “You can run, but you can’t hide,” Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Deputies attached to the Camarillo Patrol Station, working hand-in-hand with the VCSD Special Enforcement Unit, the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau, and the Ventura County Aviation Unit conducted a multi-level investigation, hunt, and pursuit of a suspect responsible for a nighttime stabbing that occurred in a Somis area agricultural field.
According to VCSD spokesman Sgt. Albert Ramirez, the stabbing took place on the night of May 6th. A 911 Emergency call for service brought patrol deputies to the scene, where they “found a male subject suffering from multiple stab wounds.” The victim was immediately evacuated to a local area hospital “where he underwent surgery” while detectives learned that 31-year-old Moorpark resident Samuel Adolfo had been the perpetrator of the violence.
For the following nine days, detectives searched for Adolfo, and on May 15th they learned that he was “staying on a property” not far from the scene of the crime. As deputies approached his reported location, Adolfo “attempted to evade by fleeing through agricultural fields.” His desperate efforts to avoid apprehension undoubtedly became more so as significant law enforcement resources arrived at the scene. Adolfo was ultimately run to ground by Special Enforcement Unit deputies and the Ventura County Aviation Unit.
Adolfo was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of attempted murder with his bail set at $540,000.
