“Today, Officer Zaragoza monitored traffic at N. Lake St. and E. Lincoln Ave.  Officer Zaragoza observed a Chevy pickup truck drive through the intersection at about 25 M.P.H., without stopping for the posted stop sign.  Officer Zaragoza tried to conduct a traffic stop with the driver, later identified as Richard Morales.  Rather than stop, Morales decided to lead Officer Zaragoza on a chase.  Morales continued the pursuit, violating multiple traffic laws, until he made it to his residence.  Morales learned that unlike in baseball, the runner isn’t safe at home.  Morales was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.  By fleeing, without due regard for public safety, Morales turned a misdemeanor crime into a felony; later he was booked into Madera County Jail.”
