Placerville Police Apprehend Suspect Wanted for Felony Charges

“Placerville, CA – On May 9th, 2024, at 9:00 am, Placerville Police Officers were in the area of Mosquito Road and Dimity Lane when they saw a subject drive by that was wanted on a felony arrest warrant for lewd acts with a child. The suspect, Joshua John Bowen 47 years old of Placerville was stopped on Bedford Ave. just north of Highway 50 and taken into custody without incident.

This arrest was made after an investigation was initiated into allegations that Bowen was involved in numerous lewd acts with a minor. This new information was brought to the attention of Crime Reduction Team after Bowen’s previous arrest in December 2022.

The Placerville Police Department Crime Reduction Team corroborated with the El Dorado County DA’s Office who were able to file the felony arrest warrant for Bowen. After the arrest was made, Bowen was brought to the Placerville Police Department for an initial interview. Crime Reduction Team detectives served a search warrant on Bowen’s Placerville residence where he lived. Multiple items of evidence were recovered from inside of the residence, including electronics that will be later examined.

Bowen was booked into the El Dorado County Jail on over 30 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor. The bail has been set at $500,000.00.

The Placerville Police Department would like to remind parents and guardians that social media is the most common medium used by sexual predators for these types of activities. The Placerville Police Department will use all resources available to protect those in our
community.
