CHP Detectives Arrest a Suspect for Freeway Shooting on I-680 in San Ramon

SAN RAMON — California Highway Patrol detectives arrested a Placer County resident suspected of committing a freeway shooting in San Ramon. Fortunately, no injuries resulted when the shooting occurred May 19 on Interstate 680, north of Alcosta Boulevard.
The shooting happened at approximately 5:33 p.m., and CHP officers from the Dublin area responded to a 911 call reporting the gunfire.
The identified suspect was arrested about a half hour after the shooting occurred. Lee Brandon O’Conner, 42 of Foresthill, remains in custody in lieu of $440,000 bond.
The victims targeted provided CHP investigators with a description of the suspect’s vehicle. This information was shared with nearby police agencies. San Ramon police saw the vehicle moments later and initiated a traffic stop.
CHP officers responded to the scene and arrested O’Conner, and a firearm was confiscated from his vehicle as evidence. O’Conner was transported and booked subsequently into the Martinez Detention
Facility for the following charges –
- Shooting at an Inhabited vehicle
- Assault with a firearm on a person
- Attempted premeditated murder
- Carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle in a public place
- Carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle
- Possession of a large capacity magazine
