Lagunitas —Two women were placed under arrest after a Lagunitas homeowner interrupted a burglary.

The homeowner detained one of the suspects. The second woman who fled was arrested in San Anselmo. A third male suspect remains at large.

The homeowner phoned the Marin County Sheriff’s Office on May 20 shortly after noon. While sheriff’s deputies were responding, Central Marin Police Authority responded to a report of a reckless driver.

Deputies arrested Shalaya Cherry, 29, of Marin City, near the homeowner’s residence on Corona Avenue in Lagunitas. Cherry remains in custody at Marin County Jail in lieu of $202,500 bond. She faces open charges for burglary, conspiracy to commit crime, and possession of stolen property.

Central Marin police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Sir Francis Drake and San Francisco boulevards in San Anselmo. The vehicle matched the description of the getaway car associated with the burglary eight miles away.

The driver Clarissa R. Anderson, 25, a transient from San Rafael, was arrested, but a male passenger the third suspect fled. Anderson was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies and Central Marin police.

Anderson remains in custody at the Marin County lockup in lieu of $200,000 bond. Her open charges are burglary and conspiracy to commit crime. Central Marin, San Rafael and California State Parks police searched for the male suspect. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office assisted with helicopter support. However, he was able to evade law enforcement—for now.
