Lake County Sheriff’s Office Apprehends Suspect in Soda Bay Market Robbery
Lake County, California – On May 24, 2024, at approximately 4:00 PM, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to a silent panic alarm activated by a store clerk at the Soda Bay Market. The clerk reported a robbery had just taken place, resulting in the theft of over $2,000 in cash and merchandise. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect, donning a white motorcycle helmet, wielding what appeared to be a handgun during the commission of the crime. The perpetrator absconded on a motorcycle toward Buckingham before deputies could arrive at the scene.
Utilizing Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology deployed in the vicinity, law enforcement scrutinized motorcycles traversing the area in the days leading up to the robbery. A diligent deputy identified a motorcycle resembling the suspect’s vehicle, with a rider exhibiting similar characteristics to the perpetrator. Further investigation uncovered the motorcycle’s registered owner and address: Bryan Bouchard, 57, residing in Kelseyville. Upon locating the motorcycle parked outside the registered address at the 5000 block of Vista Drive, deputies took swift action.
Today, on May 29, 2024, deputies, accompanied by detectives, executed a search warrant at Bouchard’s residence. Subsequent searches yielded $461 in cash, along with tobacco, rolling papers, and other items linked to the robbery.
Bouchard was promptly apprehended and transported to the Hill Road Correctional Facility, where he faces multiple charges related to second-degree robbery.
