FREMONT — Four persons were recently arrested outside a store for allegedly paying for purchases with counterfeit currency. Two Fremont businesses reported being targeted with counterfeit money in May.

One store manager reported receiving counterfeit bills in two separate incidents. It happened at a store on Warm Springs Boulevard. Bogus bills were flagged after they passed through a counting machine. The first incident occurred on May 11 and the second incident happened May 13.

Store security cameras recorded images of one of the suspects. The getaway vehicle was also recorded on video, but poor video quality obscured the license plate. However, investigators checked other surveillance cameras in the vicinity to get the license plate information. Fremont police kept a lookout at nearby stores. Officers saw the suspect vehicle on May 19. It was parked outside a store on Mission Boulevard.

Officers detained two persons waiting inside the vehicle. Two more suspects who exited from the store were detained for allegedly passing fake $100 bills inside the store.

All four suspects were found in possession of counterfeit currency. One of the suspects also had an outstanding warrant for allegedly making counterfeit bills.

Police arrested 33-year-old Claudia Siqueiros, a resident of Fremont. Incidentally, she was also arrested in April for allegedly defrauding a hotel in Santa Clara County.

The three other suspects from San Jose are Daniel Gonzalez, 41; Ricardo Cuevas, 25; and Isabel Siqueiros, 27. All four suspects are charged with conspiracy to commit crime, and uttering/passing counterfeit paper.
